Light in the darkness – November 2023

Hello friends,

Here’s this month’s offering which I hope will spark a few smiles, remind us to seek out beauty in the mundane, fun in the ordinary, peace in Creation and keep rooted in God and His Word.

An unusual package delivered to our kitchen!

I saw this sign a year or so ago at Tyntesfield National Trust house and it still evokes a chuckle and a smile. Bodgers are traditional wood turners who use a lathe and hand tools, and books refers to the second hand book shop. A truly idyllic combination!

HWH and the boys at an English Heritage monastery.

We seem to check out a lot of ancient ruins and they bring to mind a funny quip I read somewhere, (with love to my friends from across the Pond) which goes something along the lines of … American tourist : “Why do the British build so many ruins?”

We’ve had a month of wet and stormy weather, but in between the peace has been almost tangible and the skies have been stunning.

And finally…A few nights ago, as is my nightly routine, I tiptoed into Sparkly Eyes’s bedroom to give her one last good night kiss. She turned sleepily over to me and said, “Mummy, I’m nearly a quarter asleep!”

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV
