Hi, I'm Molly. I live with my hard working husband, four high energy children/teens, six dippy hens (one of whom is definitely crazy), two very tolerant guinea pigs, four (at the moment) cute piglets, and a sadly empty beehive due to our bees realising they would be better looked after by someone else. Mothering hasn't always been a straightforward journey for me, which I guess is why I feel so passionately about it. I love being a Mum and feel truly blessed with my amazing family. I would love to see the value of mothering raised up in our nation. I have a Christian faith, and truly know it is only by the grace (totally undeserved goodness) of God that I am able to write about mothering at all. I love the freedom I have in prayer. Living in the country I’m very aware of our changing seasons, and realise there are seasons in our lives too. Thank you for reading my blog...I hope it might be encouraging. Molly

Two days till Christmas! We had family and friends calling in throughout the day, but in between the children worked at some of the pre Christmas tasks we’d allocated to them. So, Rhythm Dude and I set to make the sausage and bacon rolls and stuffing while Lanky Dude iced and decorated the cake. He does… Continue reading 23 December 2017

Like much of the country we had snow last week end. It didn’t really settle here but we went up onto the hills and had fun tobogganing, having snow ball fights and making a snowman. The world looked so beautiful. Making quantities of mince pies is another annual tradition. The boys used to “help” when… Continue reading 18 December 2017

First day of the holidays! Absolute bliss. Lanky Dude finished yesterday, as did Rhythm Dude, so girls did too. I took girls to Mc Donald’s to celebrate the end of term in between dropping Rhythm Dude off at college and collecting Lanky Dude. Last ballet of term (parents able to watch...Sparkly Eyes does lots of… Continue reading 15 December 2017

Here are some pictures of our Christmas tree. We went last week to choose it and cut it down. The man who owns the land always has stories to tell from his fascinating life; he has a lucky dip for all the children, a fire to warm up around, and mulled wine for the adults… Continue reading 12 December 2017

There has been rising excitement and anticipation in our household; for the girls this is for Christmas, and for the boys, the return of “Grand Tour” the Top Gear Trio’s newish series on Amazon Prime! I love to drop our routine during Advent and just read, make, bake and play....but one of the children especially… Continue reading 8 December 2017

I’m always aware that the build up to Christmas bears more resemblance to hurtling headfirst down a helter skelter, than the peaceful preparation of my heart to welcome the entrance into this world by the Creator of it. Each year I try to do things differently and fail, but this year, as a family, we… Continue reading 5 December 2017

Can’t quite wait till the beginning of Advent...girls and I read “Jolly Snow” this afternoon, (a gorgeous picture book), and then had fun making paper snowflakes, snowmen etc. All the bits looked a bit like a snow storm and are still being tidied up! Boys went for a walk up the hill and we had… Continue reading 29 November 2017

We are starting to wind down, or is it wind up to Christmas? I took the children to McDonalds last week, and my coffee cup came emblazoned with reindeers smiling up at me. I’ve unearthed my Christmas folder (sounds horribly organised but I’ve found it works better than endless pieces of paper which I then… Continue reading 24 November 2017

Myself and the boys have both been poorly over the last week....always a dilemma when I’m trying to be teacher and mum, and my children are lively and well! Reading together is a good option, but my voice hasn’t been holding up to that either. So, read aloud audio books come onto their own; we’ve… Continue reading 7 November 2017

Half term has been lovely. Lazy pyjama mornings, evenings in, less rushing around...We celebrated Dancing Toes’ and Grandpa’s birthday, with just about all of my family here; precious times, for which I’m so grateful. We had home ed friends down one day which was fun; two of Lanky Dude’s friends who have also moved on… Continue reading 30 October 2017
